The Journey of Vanga Shravanth Reddy – Revolutionizing Indian High-Fidelity Audio

2008 – The Beginning of a Passion

Vanga Shravanth Reddy’s journey in the world of high-fidelity audio began with frustration. As a passionate audiophile, he was disheartened by the poor-quality amplifiers and speakers available in the market. Determined to find a solution, he set out to learn how amplifiers and speakers work, diving deep into the science of sound reproduction and electronics.

2009 – Hands-On Learning and Experimentation

To gain practical experience, Shravanth started assembling and testing various amplifier designs in a 14' x 14' penthouse room, turning it into a mini audio lab. He worked with legendary amplifier circuits from:

  • Bob Cordell – Known for high-fidelity amplifier designs.
  • Marshall Leach – Creator of the Leach Amp, a popular DIY project.
  • Randy Slone – Expert in low-distortion amplifier circuits.
  • Elliott Sound Products – A well-known name in high-performance amplifier designs.

This hands-on experience allowed him to understand the intricacies of audio amplification, component selection, and sound engineering.

2011 – Speaker Design and Custom Builds

With a strong foundation in amplifiers and electronics, Shravanth expanded his expertise into speaker design. He began creating DIY speakers based on customer requirements, using high-quality drivers from Peerless India, Dayton Audio, SEAS, and other premium brands. Over time, he built:

  • Bookshelf speakers
  • Floor-standing speakers
  • Active speakers
  • Active subwoofers

This phase refined his craftsmanship and deepened his knowledge of speaker acoustics and crossover design.

2012 – The Birth of Eight Audio®

Fueled by his growing expertise and passion, Shravanth launched Eight Audio® as a sole proprietorship. He also became the official distributor of Jantzen Audio components in India, offering high-quality capacitors, inductors, and resistors. This led to a collaboration with SB Acoustics, where he started designing DIY speakers using SB Acoustics drivers, which were then sold online at www.eightaudio.in.

2013 – 2016: Expansion into Custom Audio Solutions

During this period, Eight Audio gained recognition for making custom speakers and amplifiers for:

  • Gyms and fitness centers
  • Restaurants and cafes
  • Home stereo setups
  • Home theaters
  • Commercial audio installations

To improve product quality, Shravanth imported high-end Nichicon capacitors from Singapore for use in amplifiers and other electronics.

In 2014, he completed a Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering, followed by formal training in Sound Engineering to understand how audio is recorded, produced, and mixed in studios. He also gained expertise in acoustic treatment, further enhancing his ability to create high-quality audio products.

2015 – Recognition as The Youngest Entrepreneur by The Hans India

In 2015, Vanga Shravanth Reddy’s dedication and innovation in the high-fidelity audio industry were recognized by The Hans India, which honored him as the Youngest Entrepreneur. At a time when the Indian audio industry was still evolving, Shravanth had already made a name for himself through his expertise in designing and manufacturing custom speakers and amplifiers.

2017 – Investing in R&D and New Technologies

With earnings from Eight Audio, Shravanth invested in high-end testing equipment, including a Keithley Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) Meter, Tektronix Oscilloscope, and more. This enabled him to fine-tune and perfect his amplifier designs.

During this time, he:

  • Built his first Class D amplifier using TDA8920B and TPA3116.
  • Developed multiple Class AB amplifiers, pre-amplifiers, and active filters.
  • Handcrafted air-core inductors for improved crossover performance.
  • Designed and built Bluetooth-enabled Class D amplifiers using CSR8645 modules.

With the support of his father, he expanded operations to a 2,500 sq. ft. workspace for storage, office, and an audio listening room. This allowed him to launch commercial speakers and amplifiers while continuing his DIY electronic boards and speaker kits.

2018 – The First Commercial Home Theater Project

Eight Audio completed its first commercial home theater project, using custom-designed speakers and amplifiers with professional acoustic treatment.

Simultaneously, the company started:

  • OEM manufacturing for other brands.
  • DIY modules, speakers, and amplifiers for audio enthusiasts.

To meet rising demand, Eight Audio acquired its first in-house CNC machines for precision speaker cabinet manufacturing.

2019 – National Recognition and Expansion

A major milestone was achieved when Eight Audio became the official distributor of SB Acoustics drivers in India. This allowed Shravanth to bring international-grade speakers to Indian audiophiles.

That year, he built SB Acoustics Rinjani and Ara speakers, designed by Danesian Audio ApS, and showcased them at the prestigious What Hi-Fi? India Show in Mumbai. Eight Audio received critical acclaim, winning the Best Floorstanding Speaker Award of 2019 and earning a feature in What Hi-Fi? Magazine.

Due to overwhelming demand, Eight Audio participated in a second What Hi-Fi? Show in September 2019, where its speakers were again praised for their world-class performance.

To support this rapid growth and expand worldwide, Shravanth incorporated Eight Audio International Private Limited in 2019, laying the foundation for international expansion and large-scale manufacturing.

This success led to the grand opening of Eight Audio’s first official demo store in Hyderabad (Gachibowli) in December 2019, inaugurated by Tollywood actor Yarlagadda Sumanth Kumar.

2020 – 2022: Innovation and Growth

Despite global challenges, Eight Audio continued to grow and launched 10+ new speaker models, incorporating OEM drivers from Sinar Baja Electric. The company also:

  • Partnered with ICEpower to develop high-end Class D amplifiers.
  • Launched its first three-channel power amplifier with ICEpower modules.
  • Established a 3,000 sq. ft. woodwork and paint booth facility in Hyderabad (Karmanghat) to improve speaker cabinet production.
  • Installed CNC coil winding machines for in-house production of air-core inductors.
  • Partnered with OEMs to manufacture audio-grade polypropylene film capacitors and resistors under the Eight Audio brand.
  • Launched the acclaimed Agate Series On-Wall Speakers, Pearl C45, Pearl On-Wall, and Pearl Bookshelf Speakers.

2023 – Scaling Up with Advanced Manufacturing

To further improve product quality, Eight Audio:

  • Partnered with an Italian paint manufacturer for superior speaker finishes.
  • Expanded to a new 8,000 sq. ft. facility with:
    • Temperature-controlled paint booths
    • Specialized air compressors
    • Dedicated speaker assembly units

With these upgrades, Eight Audio solidified its reputation as a leading manufacturer of premium speakers and amplifiers in India.

The Future – 2024 and Beyond

Eight Audio is now set to:

  • Expand to 40,000sq ft of R&D and production facility in Hyderabad.
  • Develop world-class speakers and electronics for international markets.
  • Start global exports by 2026, making Made in India audio products a force to reckon with.
